Learn AI programming with a measurable path

Vibe Coding is not just a collection of Cursor tips. It is a learning path for people who want to turn AI help into real programming ability: understand the code, debug it, explain it, and ship working projects.

Start with the self-service assessment if you want a quick diagnosis. Then use the modules below as a structured roadmap from fundamentals to independent project delivery.

How to use this guide

  1. Take the assessment and identify your weakest area.
  2. Study the matching module instead of jumping randomly between tools.
  3. Build a small project after every major section.
  4. Review AI-generated code until you can explain the tradeoffs yourself.

Learning modules

1. Programming Overview

Build the base vocabulary: what programs are, how code runs, what editors and terminals do, and how a development environment fits together.

Estimated time: 1-2 days.

2. AI Tools Introduction

Understand Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, and other AI programming assistants. Learn what they are good at, where they fail, and how to keep yourself in control.

Estimated time: 2-3 days.

3. Cursor Basics

Learn the Cursor interface, model selection, chat, inline editing, composer-style workflows, file context, and the habits that make AI-assisted coding predictable.

Estimated time: 1-2 days.

4. Cursor Rules Configuration

Use .cursorrules and project-level instructions to keep generated code consistent with your stack, naming conventions, security expectations, and delivery workflow.

Estimated time: 2-3 days.

5. Prompt Engineering Fundamentals

Practice clear task framing, structured prompts, examples, acceptance criteria, and constraint writing. Good prompts reduce rework and make the model easier to evaluate.

Estimated time: 1 week.

6. Context Management Techniques

Learn how to give AI the right context: relevant files, docs, errors, screenshots, API contracts, and previous decisions. Context management is the difference between a lucky answer and a reliable workflow.

Estimated time: 3-5 days.

7. Advanced Prompt Techniques

Move beyond single prompts. Use role framing, step-by-step task decomposition, few-shot examples, review prompts, and test-first instructions for harder programming work.

Estimated time: 1-2 weeks.

8. Development Workflow Optimization

Design an AI-assisted loop: plan, implement, run checks, inspect diffs, test behavior, and ship. The goal is speed with evidence, not speed with mystery.

Estimated time: 1 week.

9. Frontend Development

Learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive layout, component thinking, state management, and the browser debugging skills needed to evaluate AI-generated interfaces.

Estimated time: 3-4 weeks.

10. Frameworks and Tools

Practice React, Vue, routing, build tools, package management, UI libraries, and the tradeoffs behind common frontend stacks.

Estimated time: 2-3 weeks.

11. Backend Development

Study APIs, authentication, server-side validation, background jobs, file storage, error handling, and deployment boundaries.

Estimated time: 3-4 weeks.

12. Database and API Integration

Learn schema design, SQL basics, CRUD flows, API contracts, migrations, and how to use AI without letting it invent unsafe data models.

Estimated time: 2-3 weeks.

13. Real-World Project Cases

Build with realistic constraints: customer service agents, browser extensions, AI image apps, payment flows, directory sites, mini programs, mobile apps, and data automation.

Estimated time: 2-3 weeks.

14. Deployment and Launch

Ship projects to real users. Learn domain setup, environment variables, CI checks, monitoring, logs, rollbacks, and launch SEO basics.

Vibe Coding weekly practice loop: requirement, understanding, implementation, verification, and review

Estimated time: 1-2 weeks.

What success looks like

You are ready for real AI-assisted development when you can read AI output critically, write precise change requests, run verification yourself, and explain why the final implementation works.
